Anger you feel you do not have a right to have. Hopelessness.

I now go beyond other people's fears and limitations. I create my life.

At a Metagenics seminar with Dr. Bland, he explained to us that wheat because of being GMO'd looks to the body a lot like serotonin.   Therefore if someone is sensitive in any way to wheat it can also cause a hormonal cascade that can result in depression, sleep problems etc. since 70% of serotonin is synthesized in the gut.  I have found that getting people off of wheat can at least improve depression to some degree and sometimes makes a really big difference.   - MM

Rapid Recovery From Depression Using Magnesium Treatment by George Eby george.eby@george-eby-research.com George Eby Research, Austin, Texas  Copyright   Revised: February 8, 2008

Depression really sucks! It needlessly sucks happiness and joy out of a person and may even suck the life out, too, if it can't be brought under control. I believe that curing stress- and/or diet-induced depression is extremely simple and quick using magnesium rather than drugs for many people... [ This is an excellent website - BFG]...

Depression darkened Sandy's life for 10 long years... She'd tried psychiatric counseling, St. John's wort, B vitamins, hypnosis, acupuncture...But she hadn't tried the little-known natural compound suggested by Dr. Mark Stengler. And as soon as she did, good things happened with uncanny speed. While antidepressant drugs can require a full month to kick in...Sandy's whole life turned around in just 5 days! WHAT ON EARTH DID SHE TAKE? Scientists have named it S-adenosylmethionine , but for brevity's sake, I'll call it Compound S . It's found in every single cell of your body—it's vital to the production of many key brain chemicals—and here's the kicker...Dr. Mark Stengler has found that severely depressed people almost always have low levels of Compound S! Yet as soon as patients start supplementing, wonderful things start to happen. Not only does their depression lift, but often also...Fatigue falls away, joint pain vanishes, morning stiffness disappears...Double-blind clinical studies now confirm these fantastic results. Compound S seems to work at a much deeper level than any antidepressant drug, yet it has...Fewer side effects than a placebo!

Many of the anti-depressant medications are based on the class of drugs known as Specific Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI). If one can establish that one has a need to recycle your own Serotonin, then on a short-term basis, it might be appropriate to take them while one goes through a lifestyle healing process. In an oversimplified explanation, if serotonin is low it is often because one’s lifestyle is using it up faster than you can make it. Thus, learning to use it up less by de-stressing oneself (EFT, Yoga, Meditation etc) is a start. Providing the body with the balanced nutrition so it can make Serotonin naturally is then also a must. Serotonin is made in the deep stages of sleep, so if you do not sleep well, such as having sleep apnea, there will be a problem with being able to make it. Remember that sugar plays a role here also. With sugar intake, Adrenaline is released from the adrenal glands, but Serotonin is also released in the brain to make you feel good. Then Serotonin levels drop in the brain and you feel “depressed” as well as hungry from the lowered blood sugar. Hence, the addictive cycle begins. Thus, Serotonin and adrenaline levels along with sugar addiction are directly intertwined with “depression.”

I suffered from depression for many many decades, ... St. John's Wort helped towards the end of the lifelong depression.... I know people who would never "give up" their Paxil,  but I feel they are addicted and haven't tried to institute changes in their lives, just medicated symptoms. - Katy B.

----------------------------------

One more thing that can cause depression is celiac disease (gluten intolerance) .  Celiac has many possible symptoms or no symptoms.  It should be suspected in a case of depression for no apparent reason.  My son  has  this, and  although it  did  not  cause him to be depressed, it certainly  resulted in  serious mood  swings when  he was a child.  Kids diagnosed with ADHD  might have celiac too.

I believe that the most powerful effective tool for combating depression is metabolic typing . Everyone in my family tends towards depression so I always thought it was genetic. I fought it as hard as I could using exercise and positive thinking and did make some progress. I turned to metabolic typing to improve my health so imagine my surprise when in less than a month I was no longer depressed - at all!

Magnesium has been effective in alleviating depressive and manic symptoms in rapidly cycling bipolar disorders (10).

Subject: 6 months depressed

I would just like to let you know that I have been experiencing symptoms that are given the label of depression for about six months. On the exact same day that I began to increase my water intake from 72 oz. per day to at least 144 oz. per day (I didn't even take any sea salt) every symptom that I had disappeared. I am a current college student and I have decided to change my major to nursing because what I will do for the rest of my life is help people with the water cure who are suffering needlessly. I have watched and listened to all of the downloads on watercure2.org and I plan to buy all of Dr. B's books and memorize them even more than Jim has.

Hi, I want to take a moment to share my experience with the water cure. My name is Richard, I first started the program in March of this year. Living in NYC, I was suffering from extreme anxiety, panic attacks etc. ..I started the program, and have since noticed a big difference in my stress levels( I'm much calmer) as well as energy levels and overall sense of well being. I've dropped a good 20 pounds as well! I was however still dealing with frequent urination, having to urinate every 30 minutes or so. I would also notice some ups and downs with my day to day feelings, somedays feeling quite good while other days having a return of some of the old anxiety. For the past few weeks or so Jim Bolen has been suggesting to me to try a bagel and then drink water/salt. This, Jim explained should help keep the water in the body for at least 2 hours and allowing the water enough time to top off the still somewhat dehydrated cells. After a few weeks of my resisting trying the bagels (for fear of putting excess weight on) I tried my first bagel yesterday at 4:00 followed by 16 ounces of water and a little sea salt. I did not urinate until 7:30!!! I then had dinner at 8:00 again with one whole bagel and 16oz's water/salt. I then did not urinate until 11:00!!! To top it off, I slept the entire night without awaking one time to urinate. A first in 20 years!!!!! If you are dealing with frequent urination, I urge you to try Jim Bolen's advice. Eat a Bagel with your water/salt A.K.A. The Magic Bullet!!! Than you Jim!!!!!

In Health, Richard

Just thought I'd give you an update on the progress of the watercure treatment.  I have now been drinking 2 litres of water per day and adding 3/4 tsp celtic sea salt to my meals for just over 2 months, including a daily intake of vitamin B6 which Dr. Batmanghelidj suggests for hot flushes.  I am also eating alot more fresh fruit and vegetables plus nuts and seeds.  My depression and mood swings which I suffered for a couple of years have gone.  My hot flushes have greatly reduced.  I am not taking any drug of any kind and feel wonderful. I have also noticed my skin is much softer, I am sleeping much better and feel more relaxed in general. ...

Hello. My name is Tina. I am a 37 year-old mother of four. My children are 11, 9, 7, and 3. We live a very healthy life in Germany’s Black Forest. I always gave water to my children. I never bought lemonade and other such drinks. They are very healthy.

After I nursed my little one until she was 1 year old, I became very depressed, suffered from PMS, and felt very miserable. I am a jogger, and I began to cry during jogging more and more often. I even had thoughts of running away and leaving my family. During this time, I felt the problem was physical, not in my head. My body missed something, but I couldn’t tell what. At this time, I was drinking almost no water, only black tea.

One day, last fall, I went to a lecture about the Ph-level in the body and learned about the negative effects of caffeine. I decided to stop drinking black tea. I began drinking decaffeinated green and herbal tea , and taking vitamins and complements as a nutritionalist friend suggested: zinc citrate, guarana yams, OPC tablets, carotin tablets, lecithin, Super B caps, and aloe vera caps.

I felt better very fast. ...

Sincerely, Tina

Dear Dr. Batmanghelidj,

August 1995 I first became aware of your book, "Your Body's Many Cries for Water." I will be forever grateful for your years of research in reference to the role of water in the functioning of the human body. The chapter in the book pertaining to depression was the solution to over ten years of struggle in my life.

In your book, your simple formula for drinking water at the rate of a minimum of two quarts (64 oz. = 8 glasses) per day plus salt of a half teaspoon over a 24 hour period has been the answer for my depression. Because of my weight, I follow the additional suggested formula of half the body weight number = the ounces of water required to properly keep the cells fully hydrated (200 lbs. body weight = 100 ounces of water required = 8 1/2 ounces). I make sure I ingest at least 3/4 tsp. of table salt (sodium chloride) with my food during the same 24 hour period.

I am a 68 year retired professional chemical engineer. I had battled depression symptoms from 1985 until 1995. My wife, a nurse clinician, passed away in 1984. I was forced into early retirement after 33 1/2 years with a major oil company in 1985. Those familiar with the role of high stress causing dehydration, as figure 9 in your book, will understand my problem. In addition, I had bought into the idea that a low salt diet was the way to good health. Thus, all the factors were in place for my body to show symptoms of depression. What I know now is that most of the anti-depressants used to treat patients with depression are also diuretics. I always manifested the symptom of extreme dry mouth sensation after being placed on anti-depressants. The symptom of anxiety then comes forth because of the additional need for water by the body. Add a prescribed anti-anxiety pill and the patient (me) was on a chemical teeter totter trying to achieve a balance of a normal life. Plus, in the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR), in the listing for the above medications is the nice word, suicide. I have struggled when on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication with the fleeting surges of the mind of wanting to die. However, I never had the courage to act out the desire. The ultimate solution that worked for me, water and salt, the simple answer.

In summary, for over a year I have been free of the need to take any medication of any kind. In December, 1995, I qualified with no medical restrictions for a Class 111 physical for a private pilot's license. In addition, my annual eye check revealed that my eye peripheral vision had improved relative to previous annual tests. My belief is that the cells in the eye have become better hydrated. I can read without glasses.

May the value of your research and protocol continue to spread and be understood.

...Without describing my depression I can say that for me it was often near debilitating and I have as a consequence done considerable experimentation in an effort to find relief. I have tried numerous therapies, both additive and subtractive. In the additive I have tried acupuncture, homeopathy, Chinese herbs, western, herbs, chiropractic, sound and color therapy, chemical drugs, vitamins, essential oils, more light, colon cleansing, ozone and oxygen supplements, meditation, individual and group psychotherapy. macrobiotic diet, and more exercise. In the subtractive I have eliminated amalgam fillings caffeine, meat, and sugar, alcohol and drugs and all foods, during certain periods in my life. In regards to the affects of these trials I can say that only the increasing exposure to natural sunlight and use of anti depressant chemical drugs have had a noticeable effect on my depression. I still get more sunlight but have abandoned drugs due to unacceptable side effects and concerns over long term dependency.

I read "Cries for Water" nearly three months ago and started drinking at least 8 glasses a day of water two months ago. I think that after this time I can with relative certainty say that there has been a marked improvement in my mood and absence of depressive states. This I say as a general statement. There are times when I feel low but on the whole I feel much improved. I have much more humor and my thoughts are much more optimistic. I have observed that even a single day without drinking water has a negative effect. I feel compelled to thank you for your work and for bringing it to the public. Although I cannot comment on the relationship between drinking more water and other maladies.

I would not hesitate to recommend the book and the practice of drinking more water to anyone who struggles with depression.

Thank you so very much for your book Your Body's Many Cries For Water. It has radically changed my life for the better, As a registered nurse, I was at first skeptical but tried it. An inmate can do very little for themselves to obtain medical care. Prison health services are not generally very high quality, nor easy to access when needed. This new paradigm relating to water is wonderful medicine. When I first inquired about the book I was in severe pain from both my kidneys and lower intestines. My urinary output was very low, only urinating small amounts twice a day. The urine was concentrated and dark. My bowels were chronically constipated.

Initially I started with 60 to 70 ounces of water per day. This helped some, but not as much as I had hoped. After increasing my water intake to 120 to 150 ounces per day I have found that it has relieved the pains and increased urine output to normal. As an added blessing, my mental attitude has also greatly improved. I had been sad, withdrawn and chronically tired. Now I have more energy, an inner peace, and my mental outlook is better. It has become a brighter day for me without the pains, worry over an illness, and to find mental peace. ...
