Bean Bags

  • 1 lb beans
  • fabric, heavy closely woven
  1. Seeds will not sprout if you bake them in the oven for 1 hour at 200 degrees.
  2. Sew bags and fill.

Children's Coal Garden

  • 1 piece coal or piece of brick
  • 6 Tbsp plain salt
  • 6 Tbsp liquid bluing
  • 6 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp ammonia
  • glass container
  • food coloring
  1. Combine salt, bluing, water, and ammonia.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Place coal in glass container after removing all dust with water.
  4. Slowly add bluing mixture.
  5. Crystals will begin to form in few days. You can drip food coloring on the coal for colored crystals.

Clay Dough in a Bag

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 4 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp food coloring
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ tsp oil
  1. Give each child a one-quart plastic bag.
  2. Let the kids measure the ingredients into their bags.
  3. Seal the bags and let the squish to mix.

Clay Dough

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup salt
  • ½ cup water, a little at a time
  1. Mold.
  2. Bake 350 for 1 hour.
  3. Paint with felt-tip marker or water colors.
  4. Finish with 2-3 coats of clear nail polish.

Easter Egg Dye

  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 20 drops food coloring

Finger Jell-o

  • 3 small packages Jell-O
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 4 packages gelatin, unflavored
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  1. Dissolve Jell-O and gelatin in water.
  2. Add lemon juice.
  3. Chill, cut in any shape. Serves 12.
