"Electrodermal testing" is a new still controversial form of allergy and sensitivity screening. It combines aspects of acupuncture (without needles) and biofeedback technology to help screen and detect various sensitivities, and can help provide very useful clues to treatment. In my experience and that of the folks I work with electrodermal screening along with homeopathic treatment for sensitivities and allergies is by far the most useful and comprehensive system. For folks with severe allergies and sensitivities, such as multiple chemical sensitivities, I've found it invaluable. Practitioners using this technique can be contacted through the International Federation of Electrodermal Screeners, 800-258-2172." Dr. Jonathan V. Wright's Nutrition & Healing Website |

"I first became aware of EDS soon after I began studying alternative medicine. It sounded like hocus-pocus to me, and I said so to a doctor acquaintance I respected, Joseph McGovern, M.D. "Don't laugh at it," he said, "it cured one of my failures." "Dr. McGovern related how he had a farmer in the hospital, dying, and no one could figure out why. A doctor there used EDS to determine that the farmer was ill from the effects of exposure to a particular pesticide, and was also able to identify what remedies would neutralize the toxin and expel it from the body. The farmer made a full recovery. "I was later able to witness the efficacy of EDS firsthand. Harold Whitcomb, M.D., my family's primary care physician in Aspen, Colorado, was suffering from a number of severe allergies. Finally, he spent two weeks and $3,000 to go through painstaking allergy skin testing. Shortly thereafter we visited the clinic of Fuller Royal, M.D., in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Leonard Haines, M.D., tested Dr. Whitcomb using EDS. In 20 minutes Dr. Haines came up with exactly the same results that had taken two weeks to determine using traditional means." "I have witnessed hundreds of successful diagnoses and treatments with physicians using EDS. It has revealed undetected gum infections causing chronic fatigue; mercury toxicity causing paralysis; parasites underlying immune disorders; and the hidden causes of many other health conditions that had eluded conventional physicians." The Past, Present, and Future of the Electrodermal Screening System (EDSS) - http://www.healthy.net/ - excerpt Professor Julia J. Tsuei M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
National Yang-Ming University School of
Medicine "We have completed over 20 studies using the EDSS, 8 of which are translated into English. In the first study, 11 patients receiving treatment in a family practice were observed. Conditions seen included peptic ulcer, appendicitis, chronic chorea, and cancer of the colon, breast and uterus. In every case, readings taken with EDSD matched standard diagnostic tests (46). In another study, allergy symptoms were assessed by standard diagnostic methods. Testing with EDST correlated closely with accepted criteria, particularly the food rechallenge test, considered the most reliable method of testing for food allergies (20)." "We have studied chronic fatigue syndrome (48), and pesticide exposure (22). Measurement readings at points representing circulation improved significantly after half an hour of chi-kung meditation exercise (49). We have reported on two major studies in diabetes mellitus (50,51) and one on hypertension (52). It was clearly shown that it was possible to differentiate normal from abnormal organ and system function by measuring bioenergy at a few specific points." "Editor: Energy medicine is a growing field. Electroacupuncture biofeedback devices that measure electromagnetic frequencies and detect imbalances in the body have been approved for use as a screening technique in the U.S. The machines are widely used in Europe and Japan." 10-19-2001 "Editor’s Note: Dr. Paul Cheney, M.D., Ph.D., is one of the most recognized names in CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome) treatment and research. He has treated over 3,000 patients with CFIDS from 48 states and 15 countries. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Nutrition Department at Capitol University of Integrative Medicine in Washington, DC. Dr. Cheney has published numerous articles in peer reviewed medical journals, and has lectured around the world on the subject of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). He was a founding Director of the American Association of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (AACFS), a professional association of scientists and clinicians. He was chosen to chair a select panel of nationally known clinicians to discuss treatment at the CFS Conference sponsored by the AACFS and Harvard Medical School in October of 1998." "(Editor’s note: Dr. Cheney uses the ALCAT test to determine food sensitivities, most of which are temporary, and he is now using bioenergetic testing as well. This is also sometimes referred to as electrodermal testing.)" from Dr. Cheney's Basic

"Moreover, sophisticated electrodermal devices now provide valuable applications in medical diagnosis. The clinical studies of Michael J. Aminoff, M.D. and Douglas S. Goodin, M.D. on Event-Related (Endogenous) Potentials clearly demonstrate the role of computerized scanning devices in both the diagnosis and prognosis for patients with neurological diseases." http://www.elementsofhealth.org/Scienceofbionetics.htm |
LYME DISEASE, The Unknown Epidemic in Avon, Ohio - By D. J. Fletcher and Tom Klaber - The following article is from the May, 2001, issue of "Alternative Medicine". http://www.centurytel.net/tjs11/bug/l13.htm "Presently, such patients will find few doctors experienced in Lyme, because of the newness of the disease and lack of understanding about it, and because those doctors who take a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating Lyme are commonly harassed by state medical boards, insurance companies and HMOs." "It is up to patients to actually educate their doctors about the inadequacy of standard testing and the necessity for using techniques such as electrodermal screening and darkfield microscopy." "...electro-acupuncture testing....The instrument gave a correct test result for every substance we tested, and the salesman knew nothing about us ahead of time....The instrument is just so powerful that I wanted to be able to use it for anyone....The key is this - the instrument just gets you so much quicker to the right treatment for a patient." -Dr. Kathy Gibbons |

"Calling on the services of a consulting acupuncturist, Dr. Kotsanis had Millicent tested for heavy metal toxicity; ....The acupuncturist, using electrodermal screening...determined that Millicent did have significant toxicity in her body...An analysis of Millicent's urine confirmed the mercury diagnosis." - page 114 "As part of my medical practice, I regularly use electrodermal screening...to identify hidden energy blockages in the body. It is also an effective way to get beyond times when a patient prefers not to admit a fact from their history or perhaps literally does not remember it..." - John Diamond, M.D. from Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Environmental Illness by Burton Goldberg & editors of Alternative Medicine Digest |

"My experience that we generally addicted to the very foods that we are sensitive to and that are, in fact, causing far more damage than we appreciate. electrodermal testing has been instrumental in me helping my patients to recognize which foods are clearly harmful for them."
